A wedding may be a magical moment, but preparations that come with it are stressful, putting it mildly. Part of it has to do with booking your suppliers who may, or may not be available for your desired date. Below are some tips on choosing the right people for your big day. To easily remember it, it goes with the acronym, BINGO.
B- Budget. Set a budget for your occasion. This helps you be more realistic in choosing suppliers. If you cannot afford “X” for your video, for sure there will be “Y” or “Z” who are equally talented videographers who will be willing to accommodate you, at a cheaper cost. Read on blogs or discussion forums for reviews of the supplier you want to consider. They may be as talented as their more popular counterparts, but less professional and will only play games with your time. Choose wisely but stick to your budget.
I- Invest. Once you have set a budget, make a list of your priorities. Remember, your wedding is a once in a lifetime event. Understandably, most couples invest on photography or video because they want memories to be captured elegantly. However, a lot of them erroneously scrimp on one thing- makeup. Don’t rely on your photographer’s photoshop skills and don’t add burden to his work by choosing an inferior makeup artist. This is your wedding, not a show for drag queens. Makeup is not just about concealing your flaws, it’s more about letting your most beautiful self shine through. Ask around or search online for the best makeup artist that money can pay for.
N- Negotiate. Once you’ve decided on suppliers, get in touch with them immediately. Somebody might beat you to their schedule on your wedding day. These days, couples reserve as early as 1 year from the desired date to make sure they get the suppliers that they fancy. The earlier the reservation, the most likely you will get packages at a lower cost. When booking suppliers, ask for a contract and read everything stipulated in it. Clarify whatever you don’t understand.
G- Go to Bridal Fairs. This is when suppliers gather and offer discounts to clients who will book their services for a limited time. You will also view samples of their previous works on display and get to inquire around.
O- Organize. Make a list of the things you have accomplished, including the suppliers booked and the expected delivery of products, if applicable. An overview of this will make it easier to prepare for the occasion. If you can afford it, do yourself a favor and hire a reputable organizer to help you out at least on the wedding day itself.
If you follow these tips, you’re likely to hit BINGO on the best day of your life.
